WEEK 15 POWER RANKINGS

With Clemson and Ohio State rolling to easy road victories at Virginia Tech and Michigan State, respectively, we shook up our top five quite a bit this week.

We’ve elevated Clemson and Ohio State over Notre Dame and Florida.

To be clear, we feel like Alabama has a good bit of separation — we’d make the Crimson Tide at least a seven-point to the Tigers or Buckeyes on a neutral field right now — between the rest of the top five. Notre Dame won a 45-21 decision over Syracuse this past weekend as the offense looked sharp.

Florida has coasted to victories vs. Kentucky and at Tennessee in consecutive weeks, but the Gators haven’t been overly impressive in either instance. Their offense is as good as anybody’s, but they fall to No. 5 as their defense remains suspect.

Texas A&M had to rally in the fourth quarter, but it did just that in collecting a monster victory at Auburn. Say what you want about the Tigers, but it’s never easy to win at Jordan-Hare, especially when facing a fourth-quarter deficit. The Aggies dealt with those circumstances and outscored Auburn 17-0 in the final stanza of a 31-20 road win.

Oklahoma had a ho-hum performance in a win over Baylor, but the Sooners remain at No. 7 nonetheless.

Cincinnati has been off for two weeks due to a COVID-19 outbreak, but the unbeaten Bearcats are still at No. 8. Georgia is at No. 9, while Indiana is No. 10.

Even with star QB Michael Penix out for the season, Tom Allen’s bunch went on the road and won outright as a double-digit underdog at Wisconsin. Jack Tuttle looked sharp in his first career start for the Hoosiers, who have only lost at Ohio State in a one-possession game.

Iowa State extended its winning streak to five with a 42-6 home win over West Virginia. The Cyclones are now 8-2 and No. 11 in our rankings.

Miami, Fl. blasted Duke and the Hurricanes are No. 12.

USC remained undefeated by blasting Washington State on Sunday night, and the blowout win got the Trojans elevated to No. 13.

Despite the rumors engulfing the football facilities about the future of Tom Herman and several opt-outs, Texas hung 69 points at Kansas State. The Longhorns are No. 14, followed by Northwestern, which is No. 15 after an open date that saw it wrap up the Big Ten West.

Coastal Carolina jumps up to No. 16 after stunning BYU 22-17 to hand the Cougars’ their first loss and to stay undefeated. Another Sun Belt club, Louisiana, which has a 31-14 win at Iowa State and took its only loss to the Chanticleers, are up to No. 17 after winning at Appalachian State.

BYU took the trip across country to face Coastal Carolina on short notice, and we commend the Cougars for doing so. They’re No. 18 this week.

Tulsa is up to No. 19, as the Golden Hurricane have won six games in a row and took its lone defeat at Oklahoma State.

Auburn is only 6-4, but it remains in our Top 20 with three of its defeats coming at Alabama, at Georgia and vs. Texas A&M.

Colorado makes its debut at No. 23 after improving to 4-0 with another win. N.C. State jump into the fray at No. 24 after covering the spread vs. Georgia Tech.
