The Los Angeles Rams will battle the Arizona Cardinals in one of the more interesting and impactful games of Week 14. Each team is coming off of a win, and Los Angeles currently sits only two games back from Arizona in the NFC West playoff picture. These are two Super Bowl hopefuls, and this game will go a long way in determining playoff seeding. I’ll outline the NFL odds along with a pick and Rams vs. Cardinals prediction below.
Los Angeles Rams vs. Arizona Cardinals
Will Arizona’s home woes continue?
Several top teams in the NFL have found more success at home in 2021 than the Cardinals. They’re 3-2 at home as opposed to 7-0 on the road. Their losses came against the Green Bay Packers and Carolina Panthers.
Arizona also ranks third in the NFL in points per play (.486) on the road. That number dips to .38 at home this season. They also rank fourth in the league in points allowed per play (.278) on the road, and that number jumps to .342 in Arizona.
The Cardinals have a few dominant road wins, including victories against the Tennessee Titans, Rams, Cleveland Browns, and San Francisco 49ers. They won those games by 25, 17, 23, and 14 points, respectively.
Arizona simply hasn’t found the same success at home. They had a big win over the Houston Texans to go along with a 1-point victory over the Minnesota Vikings and a 7-point win against San Francisco. Although they can win at home, it’s clear the Cardinals have found more success on the road in 2021.
Rams vs. Cardinals betting trends
These teams have been opposites in terms of the spread this season. Arizona’s covered it in 75% of their games, while Los Angeles has covered 41.7% of theirs. The Cardinals have beaten the spread by 6.6 points per game, and the Rams haven’t found nearly as much success. With that being said, Arizona only owns a 2-3 against the spread (ATS) record at home, failing to cover by an average of 7.3 points per game.
These teams are both relatively neutral in terms of the game total. The Cardinals enter this game with a 6-6 over/under record, while the Rams bring a 6-5-1 over/under record into this contest. Arizona’s found the under slightly more often at home, and Los Angeles has found the over slightly more often on the road. Essentially, it evens out.
Rams vs. Cardinals prediction
The Rams and Cardinals are arguably playing the most important game of the week. This contest will have massive playoff implications.
It’s also extremely difficult to beat a great division rival twice in the same season.
The Cardinals stole the win in Los Angeles earlier this season, and I expect the Rams to do the same this weekend. At worst, they should find a way to keep this game close. I prefer betting on the over rather than the spread, though.
Rams vs. Cardinals Prediction: Rams 31, Cardinals 27
