The Kansas City Chiefs will take on the Chicago Bears on Saturday afternoon, August 25, 2018, in an NFL preseason matchup. This game is being played at Soldier Field in Chicago, Illinois with the kickoff scheduled to take place at 1:00 PM ET.
OPENING ODDS: Chiefs +1.5 @ Bears -1.5 TOTAL 45
CURRENT ODDS: Chiefs +1.5 @ Bears -1.5 TOTAL 47.5
Chiefs Struggle With Rushing Attack
The Kansas City Chiefs come into this game with a 1-1 SU and ATS record in the preseason. The Chiefs have played both of their games under the posted total this year.
The Chiefs beat the Atlanta Falcons by the score of 28-14 and lost to the Houston Texans by the score of 17-10. The Chiefs were the favorite in both games this preseason, while they will be an underdog in this one on the road against the Chicago Bears.
Chiefs starting quarterback Patrick Mahomes looked impressive last week and it appears that the early training camp concerns coming out of Kansas City can be put to rest. Mahomes connected on 8 of 12 passes for 138 yards, a TD, and an INT.
One of the concerns for the Chiefs is their lack of running game that they’ve had this preseason. In the game against the Falcons, the leading rusher was Kerwynn Williams, who ran the ball 8 times for just 23 yards. The Chiefs are really struggling with moving the ball on the ground, which isn’t a good thing knowing that is where they have found most of their success over the past few years.
Bears Look to Get to .500 In Preseason
The Chicago Bears enter this game with a 1-2 SU and 2-1 ATS record. They have played 2 of their games over the posted total and 1 game under the posted total.
The Bears have lost to the Baltimore Ravens by the score 17-16 and to the Cincinnati Bengals by the score of 30-27 while getting their lone win against the Denver Broncos by the score of 24-23. It should be noted that this will be the Bears first home game of the preseason, playing all 3 of the other games on the road.
The Bears starters looked really good in their last game against the Denver Broncos. On Offense, Mitch Trubisky went 9 for 14 and threw a TD and an INT in the game. The Bears have also had issues with moving the ball on the ground.
Last week, the Bears only rushed for a total of 55 yards in the game with the leading rusher being Jordan Howard. Howard carried the ball 9 times for 32 years in the game against the Denver Broncos.
Chicago Wins First Home Game Of Season
To me, this game is clear-cut. The Bears have been strong at home while the Chiefs have been terrible on the road. Over the past 13 home games, the Chicago Bears are 9-3-1 ATS, while the KC Chiefs have gone 1-4 ATS in their last 5 road games. That tends to stay true when two teams facing each other have trends that favor both sides. We will look to the Chicago Bears offense to stay in this game a bit longer and get Trubisky some rather long drives in the game. Bears win over the Chiefs!
