College Football Week 13

November 20, 2023

We’ve reached the final leg of the college football betting season entering Week 13, with several conference title game scenarios still to be determined over the weekend.

That includes the Game of the Week in Ann Arbor, where No. 2 Ohio State is a +3.5 underdog against No. 2 Michigan for a trip to the Big Ten title game in Indianapolis.

We also have No. 7 Texas (-13.5) taking on Texas Tech and No. 6 Oregon (-13.5) taking on No. 11 Oregon State, with the Longhorns and Ducks looking to secure their spots in the Big 12 and Pac-12 title games.

Those are a few of the biggest games in another loaded weekend, with no shortage of options on college football odds and sports betting apps entering Week 13.

College Football Week 13 Best Bets

Ole Miss (-11) at Mississippi State

We’ll get things started this week with the Egg Bowl, one of the most competitive rivalries in the country in recent years. These teams are 11-11 against each other over the last 22 years and we’ll see if the Rebels can get the upper hand in 2023 as a double-digit favorite.

Ole Miss is out of the SEC race but has a chance for its second 10-win season in three years. The Bulldogs, meanwhile, are in the market for a new head coach after parting ways with Zach Arnett two weeks ago.

It’s been a long year in Starkville, but a chance to end the season on a high note with a major rivalry upset on Thanksgiving night is more than enough motivation for the Rebels to bring it strong at Davis Wade Stadium.

Best Bet: Check back for point spread pick.

Iowa at Nebraska (-1.5)

A classic Black Friday matchup gets underway at noon, with the 9-2 Hawkeyes heading to Lincoln. Iowa secured its spot in the Big Ten title game with a 15-13 win over Illinois last week, but Nebraska is actually a small favorite here according to the oddsmakers.

Winning ugly doesn’t really begin to describe this Iowa team. They’ve won five of their last six games without scoring more than 22 points. They haven’t allowed more than 16 points since a 31-0 loss to Penn State in late September.

Nebraska plays the same brand of ball, without the key plays in crunch time. The Huskers have lost three straight one-score games and definitely want to finish the season on a high note with a sixth win to get bowl eligible.

Best Bet: Check back for point spread pick.

Texas Tech at Texas (-13)

You’d have an easier time figuring out international tax law than the Big 12 tiebreaker. The conference released multiple clarifications this week regarding the three-way tie for second place, with Oklahoma State, Oklahoma and Kansas State sitting at 6-2.

The Longhorns are still on top at 7-1, but they haven’t clinched a spot in the title game just yet. There are a few scenarios in which they’d be watching from home, but a win over the in-state rival guarantees a trip to Dallas.

Oddsmakers have Texas Tech as a two-score underdog, but the Red Raiders have won three straight and won’t roll over for the Longhorns. They became bowl eligible at 6-5 with a 24-23 win over UCF last week, and they snapped a four-year losing streak to Texas with an overtime victory a year ago in Lubbock. We’ll see if they can pull off the upset again Friday in Austin.

Best Bet: Check back for point spread pick.

Oregon State at Oregon (-13)

There’s nothing the Ducks would love more than a rematch with Washington in the Pac 12 title game. They haven’t earned it quite yet. Oregon is in with a win over the Beavers, but an upset loss coupled with an Arizona win over Arizona State would send the Wildcats to the conference championship game for the first time since 2014.

Oregon State has won two of the last three matchups against the Ducks and would love to play spoiler here. The problem is the Beavers haven’t won in Eugene since 2007, and Oregon has looked phenomenal in five straight wins since the three-point loss to the Huskies. Big rivalry, big game, big stakes. It doesn’t get much better than this.

Best Bet: Check back for point spread pick.

Ohio State at Michigan (-3.5)

Here we go again. It’s Ohio State and Michigan with the Big Ten East and a trip to Indianapolis at stake, as the Wolverines try for three straight wins over the Buckeyes for the first time since 1995-97.

Jim Harbaugh won’t be there to see it. Michigan’s head coach is serving out a three-game suspension for the school’s still-developing sign stealing scandal, which recently led to the firing of linebackers coach Chris Partridge.

The Wolverines are still favored by more than a field goal as they look to make it 24 consecutive Big Ten wins. The Buckeyes haven’t blinked at any point this season either and are desperate to get back on the right side of this rivalry.

Both teams look evenly-matched again and tensions will be at an all-time high when The Game kicks off Saturday in Ann Arbor.

Best Bet: Check back for point spread pick.
