Tampa Bay Downs Selections Wed, April 29th

BEST BETS: Bet 2x Normal Wager
Race 1: #7 Tale of the Song
Race 4: #8 Mister Storm
Race 7: #5 Ty Ran a Homer

Bet Top Horse Across the board each race.
Bet Exacta Boxes each race.

RACE 1: Crazy Frank C is probably capable of going close in a race like this under Harry Hernandez. The Great Loudini hasn’t won this year but has been knocking on the door lately and will be hard to keep out of the frame again, despite the outside berth, having finished ahead of Big Gillette, Jaiden’s Best and Solitary Jack last time. YOUNG AMERICAN was keeping on over track and trip 12 days ago and any improvement on that would make him the one to beat. SELECTIONS: 7-10-2-3
WINNER PAID $9.20
$2 EXACTA PAID $35.20

RACE 2: After a couple of sighters at the start of the year, ACCESSIBLE has really got his act together. After a second over 7f, he was only beaten a neck by Gravitas over a mile last time and will be a short price in this. Mr. Quality and Justcuzifeellikeit look held on the form book so Burning Bright could be the one for forecast-backers having been too green to do himself justice on last month’s debut. Mediate is preferred to Carl G of the newcomers. SELECTIONS: 5-3-2
$2 EXACTA 2-3 PAID: $58.20

RACE 3: Back at Tampa after a couple of recent runs at Fair Grounds, including a third in February, Rosebud’s Hope is interesting in this. Michael Stedham’s mare probably has the beating of Distinctive Flower on collateral form with the latter also behind Wish Upon here in February. Solar Kitten will have needed her run at Gulfstream Park last month but this can go the less-exposed PASSING OUT. She is having a first run as a four-year-old but her form last year was excellent and included victories at Gulfstream Park and Saratoga as well as solid placed efforts at Belmont Park and Aqueduct – she could be a cut above these. SELECTIONS: 4-2-5-8

RACE 4: Kalu has won twice for Godolphin, the latest over a half-furlong further here two runs ago. He was hampered at the start when a hot favourite last time so that run can be ignored and he looks a big danger to GILDED DRAMA. Gerald Bennett’s gelding does require further improvement to land this but did beat a subsequent winner here in February and should just about last out the 6f. Shakem N Breakem has a lot to find with the selection on their last meeting but it would be no surprise to see some improvement from Mister Storm, who finished ahead of the race-fit Striking Heir recently. SELECTIONS: 8-1-9-2 #8 Mister Storm ran 2nd
$2 EXACTA 1-8 PAID $53.60

RACE 5: There’s a good chance that Blood Moon will get a run and he could take some catching if proving as effective on Turf as he has been on Dirt. But Antonio Gallardo is more likely to ride CADET CONNELLY, who is proven on the surface. The Grey Swallow gelding proved himself a classy performer at Woodbine in the autumn, finishing second in a Grade 1 on his final start. Gallardo also rode Assiduously to victory here in December while Tabled won over track and trip in February. Sky Mischief steps up from 6f but Mr. Kringle is a proven stayer, even if a little exposed. SELECTIONS: 8-10-3-1

RACE 6: 3-12-8-4

RACE 7: 5-9-10-8
$2 EXACTA 10-9 PAID $24.80

RACE 8: Never Forget may be the pick of those with experience even though Flashing Red has placed in all three starts to date. The latter is one of two Christophe Clement entries but only Curly Wurly is guaranteed a run. By Curlin, she’s out of a mare who has produced a Dirt winner at Saratoga with her only offspring to so far race. STOLEN HOLIDAY is another newcomer to consider as she is a half-sister to three winners up to 1m2f so should be ideally suited by this distance. Antonio Gallardo rides so she gets the nod. Freshman Class and Lipstikliesnlovers have shown some ability so can’t be ignored. SELECTIONS: 4-8-1-3
#4 WINNER PAID: $9.20
$2 EXACTA 4-1 PAID: $62.20
