Odds to win Superbowl

November 12, 2019

The New England Patriots are no longer undefeated, but sportsbooks still believe they have the best chance to win Super Bowl 54.

With Week 9 in the books, the Pats are still the +250 favorites to win the championship at Bovada . The New Orleans Saints (+500), San Francisco 49ers (+650), Kansas City Chiefs (+900), Baltimore Ravens (+950), Green Bay Packers (+1200), Dallas Cowboys (+1400), Philadelphia Eagles (+1600), Seattle Seahawks (+2000) and Los Angeles Rams (+2500) find themselves behind New England at the shop.

Ravens Look Like the Real Deal

The biggest odds movement of the week belongs to the team that gave the Patriots their first loss – the Ravens. Baltimore was +1800 prior to its 37-20 triumph over New England on Sunday Night Football but its odds were cut nearly in half in light of the huge win to improve to 6-2 on the year.

Lamar Jackson greatly helped his MVP chances in the contest, posting a 107.7 passer rating while accounting for three touchdowns and no turnovers against the top defense in the NFL. No player in league history has eclipsed 3,000 passing yards and 1,000 rushing yards in the same season, but the former Heisman Trophy winner is on track to smash both marks. With a Week 10 matchup against the winless Cincinnati Bengals on deck, expect Baltimore’s Super Bowl odds to continue to improve by this time next week.

Brissett’s Injury Sends Colts’ Odds Tumbling

The Indianapolis Colts find themselves on the other side of the fence right now thanks to the injury to starting quarterback Jacoby Brissett. The Colts, who were +2500 before Week 9, are now +4000 at Bovada . Brissett went down with a knee injury early in the second quarter of Sunday’s 26-24 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers and didn’t return to the game.

Colts coach Frank Reich told reporters after the tilt he believes the signal-caller’s injury is a sprain and possibly “MCL-ish,” per The Indianapolis Star. Brian Hoyer entered the game in Brissett’s place and finished 17-of-26 for 168 yards, three touchdowns and a pick-six.

Indy is trying to remain in contention with the Texans atop the AFC South but the Colts could have their work cut out for them if Brissett is going to miss a significant amount of time. Oddsmakers clearly aren’t believing in the Colts being a true Super Bowl contender, so if you think Brissett can return and lead them to the promised land, the time to bet Indianapolis is now.
